Relief Captain

For our captains, the safety and enjoyment of your passengers and ability to lead a professional crew is critical. We have two long-serving Captain. Currently seeking a relief Captain with potential to progress into more frequent assignments over time. Several years of experience with a similar operation and possession of 100-ton license are required to apply.

FILLEDAssistant Manager/On-Site Host, Part-Time

Do you enjoy arranging parties and events? Obsess over details and like making guests feel at home? If you like being part of the action as well as planning behind the scenes this may be the position for you. This newly created position can be adapted to the skills of the individual who fills it, but we envision offering 20-30 hours per week over the course of the season in a variety of duties including administrative responsibilities, customer service, on-site event set up and coordination, guest check-in and ticket sales. Positive, helpful and warm personality is a must!

Deckhand, Part-Time

Someone who enjoys working with the general public, likes outdoor settings, is not afraid to take charge of a situation, and likes to learn “how things work” can excel in this position. Deckhands take on many tasks including preparing the boat for events, ensuring vessel security and guest safety, providing guest assistance and answering questions, monitoring the engine room and onboard systems, pre- and post-event cleaning, and of course line handling and other boat-specific tasks. You will learn a lot of new skills from our experienced captain, crew, and staff members in this position.

We fall under Federal transportation regulations, so pre-employment and ongoing random drug testing is a condition of employment. Holding a medical marijuana card won’t exempt you, sorry! Guest safety is #1 in the eyes of the DOT and the Coast Guard (and us, too!).

Preferred applicants will have CPR & First Aid training (or can get certified) and experience working with the general public in leadership or supervisory position. Mechanical knowledge, TWIC card credentials and maritime credentials a definite plus! Successful crew members have included a variety of people, from mature young adults (18+) to retired first responders.

Due to the nature of the business, nights and weekends are required, but many day shifts are available too, particularly in July when the weekday morning History Tour Series is offered. Bonus: you will get to see the best scenery Bay City has to offer, hear lots of great music, and learn a lot of Saginaw River history!

Weekly hours could range from 5 to 20, depending on the number of hires, your desired level of employment, your availability and our need as the season ramps up, runs steadily and then slows down.

Bartender, part-time

Bartenders are mainly responsible for bar set up, stocking and service during scheduled events, but also assist with meal service, guest check in and guest service while underway. Our team does whatever is needed to keep tours and events running smoothly and keep our guests smiling. Applicant must be able to work neatly and efficiently and display a positive, friendly attitude under busy circumstances with a professional demeanor.

Due to the nature of the business, nights and weekends are required. It’s short, busy season for someone age 18+ who enjoys meeting new people and is able to stand for several hours from event set up to completion. The ability to bend, stoop, and lift up to 25 pounds to stock inventory is also necessary. Bonus: You have the opportunity to meet almost every guest who comes aboard and keep them smiling for hours.

Banquet Server, part-time

Servers are responsible for catering set up, stocking and service during scheduled events. No cooking involved, our food arrives fresh from an off-site caterer, ready to serve. Must be able to work neatly, efficiently and display a positive, friendly demeanor under busy circumstances. professional appearance.

This role can be filled by someone age 16 and up without previous work experience. Servers need to be able to interact easily with guests to keep meal service on schedule. Typical tasks: portion and plate meals, fill chafing pans with delicious food, bus tables and wait on passengers throughout the shift.

Due to the nature of the business, nights and weekends are required, though there will be some daytime events too. The ability to bend, stoop, and lift up to 25 pounds to stock inventory is also necessary. Bonus: you will see many beautiful sunsets on the water this summer!
